This time I don’t want to say thank you to a particular Oracle Feature, but I want to highlight the entire Oracle Community. It started a couple of years ago. After a nice project implementing OVM on Exadata, Philippe Fierens convinced me to start speaking at conferences. Since then, I did not regret any second of that decision. The Oracle Community is such a warm group of people. The cool part is, you don’t have to be shy! Everyone makes mistakes…
It all starts with creation of a database on a Database appliance which failed with the error

Only one minor thing is not too well documented and I would like to highlight this here. In this particular setup the service was running under the local system account. Personally I would like to see it under a local user account. In order to be able to perform a succesfull filesystem backup, we…
Sometimes it’s time to upgrade. So the I decided to add the oracle 12c thin client to my mac a couple of weeks ago. Yes I know, I was very happy with the oldy-but-goodie 10g version, but ok. The 12c instant client is very easy to install. I remember it took quite some time to install the 10g version, so happy about that. Unzipping the zipfiles, 2 symlinks and then a bit personal config in my .profile. So far so…
Well that’s it guys. I moved from tumblr ( http://vanpupi.tumblr.com ) to wordpress to have some more flexibility, mostly for the code-tags actually. We’ll see where it will bring us.
